Any relatively easier-to-get-into universities suggestions in California or Bay area? I am looking for my wife who has an undergrad from back home but dont have good scores, and not sure if we have enough time for GRE to even apply for next 2026 January session. I work in Bay area so close to the area would be good. I see San Francisco State university as one option. Thanks #meta #cisco #apple #google
Sjsu, sfsu, ucsc, de anza
Just to categorize: uc berkeley and santa cruz are pretty difficult. Sf state and sj state would be the next tier down. For private there is santa clara ($$$). Then there are the community colleges, which ate very cheap, where you barely even need any bar to be admitted. Frankly this may be the beat place to start. There are many community colleges all over the place, you can pick one nearby.
I looked at few community colleges, they seem to only have diplomas 1 or 2-years , and not graduate programs. Is this true?
I not sure but a lot of people use community colleges as a pathway to other degrees. Like people can spend 2 years at a community college plus two years at a university to get a bachelors degree, so I’d look if there are programs for graduate degrees. And generally, lots of people with bachelors degrees take classes at community colleges to retool or to sharpen skills to prepare for the next thing. They are cheap and easy to get into so a great way to get things started.
Online degrees? They usually don’t need gre scores
those dont get OPT work permit later on right?
They dont. But do you need an opt? Looks like you are working. Directly go for a h1b or h4 ead if an option.
University of San Francisco
Did you mean SFSU or univ of san francisco? the later looks like they need GRE.
What’s the true motivation? Does she have the Motivation to study?
I asked her many times, so yes is the answer. Of course only she knows haha
