Everything seems great with this guy, except basic attraction. What to do? My friends say itโs no big deal
Bay area, purely because of the ๐
Primary consideration reason is ๐๐
Whatโs your tc? Yoe? Position? Howโs WLB? How long have you been with JPMC?
My TC: 550K YOE: 15 Current Company : Amazon
I was like wtf jpmc pays that much?? Lol
By โimpactedโ, do you mean laid off? Or do you have to relocate within the company? The former would put your TC at risk due to the job market.
Relocate due to RTO
With 900k HHTC, Bay Area being higher CoL shouldnโt matter, so Iโd pick bay area for weather but I recommend you visit both and pick based on which area you like better.
What do you think about career growth.. ? Amazon HQ, MS, Google etc are in Seattle
Both are fine for tech career growth. Bay Area is bigger and has more tech, making it slightly better; except if you plan to stay at Amazon in which case Seattle is easily the best place to be.
Seattle weather sucks 9 months out of the year. Factor that in.
Not true
This and even people that grew up here know it.
Housing will be much cheaper in Seattle I would imagine. For Amazon probably Seattle for more career opportunities as it is the headquarters.
Not that much cheaper. An OK 3-4 Bedroom within an hour of seattle, figure 750k for a fixer upper, 1.2 for something pretty nice. Double that if within 15 minutes of seattle.
Nordstrom, still itโs half of the cost vs. Bay Area.
With that TC, Bay Area by a mile. Seattle is nice if you care about the outdoors, but that's about it. The tech culture, weather, opportunities for both yourself and kids is immense. Other than housing, Seattle is just as expensive and doesn't offer much more.
What are the opportunities for kids in Bay Area which Seattle doesnโt provide?
Seattle has much more opportunities and variety of companies, Bay Area is pretty much only tech
Bay Area anyday. Not a fan of Seattle
You must have a dedicated security team lol, living here sucks
What are you talking about? I lived in SF for 5 years before moving to Foster City. Had fun in SF and now enjoying suburban life in Foster City which is only 30 mins from the city. Ofcourse if you lived in the shit hole parts of the city your experience would be different.
Seattle - after living in the Bay Area with all the piss smell and druggies Iโd love to move to the Seattle area. Donโt have to deal with income bs and thefts, car break ins etc.
I think thatโs all in Seattle too?
Hahaha I said Seattle area, I heard Bellevue and Redmond are better?
Bay area for that TC
