I constantly feel stupid around my teammates. They seem to be way smarter than me. I always get growth ideas and opportunities to improve from my manager but never anything positive. I feel low and go under a rock fearing to be seen as stupid. I find myself to be more productive and happy in general when I'm confident. Should I jus find another team or job that has low bar ? I always thought it's better to be a small fish in a big pond than big fish in a small pond. I atleast thought I need to be a small fish in a big pond until I'm capable of being big fish in small pond. Your opinion ? #tech
Move teams and maybe get out of Amazon And, big or small it’s all relative. I’d say maintain consistency and deliver at par with the expectation. Slowly build up on it. Gain more confidence by doing so. Play the long game and you’ll be alright. Bottom line, I think that job hopping is a good way to reset and then play the long game.
Get laid.
It's better to be surrounded by people you can learn from. And it's great that you are getting advice on how to grow. Are the others in the team the same level as you? Because Amazon stack ranks and compares you to peers at the same level, it's not good if it appears there's a huge gap between you and others in your team at the same level.
Good to be small fish for learning. But not for happiness. One needs to feel big to be happy. Absorb here. And move to be big fish. All of life cant be spent just learning. At some point one needs to feel important.
I can totally feel you.
