I left Zoom before the pandemic hit and joined another promising company that fizzled out. Now I am looking at the rear view mirror and have so much regret that I left. I know I shouldn’t dwell in the past, but the fact that I could’ve been a millionaire right now hurts pretty freaking bad. Anyone else have similar stories like this? Looking for some emotional support here...#tech
Maybe if you would had stayed the timeline would have altered and another video chat platform would have become the default video chat platform (butterfly effect). You never know what could/would happen.
Dude, seriously. If OP had stayed at Zoom, maybe the pandemic wouldn't have occurred. Screw you, you selfish bastard! You had to chase riches and look what's happened because of it!
For real. Could have been a potentially covid free world if this person had stayed at Zoom.
It was a good company even pre pandemic. I should day it had a solid product and imo the best solution on the market. You must still have some zm stock?
I do. But left a fat fat chunk on the table
Define your fat 😝
Imagine someone joining Tesla now
I regret joining Uber
How was valuation when u joined
Same as now so I am luckier than most at Uber but other companies have gone up 50% to 100%
Still walked out with 400k plus in equity. But missed out on millions. How about you, Apple?
Did you have options? At what strike?
4000 shares at 10 bucks
R.I.P.
How much did you part ways with
1.6 million
you mean you didn't exercise all the options you had? Or you had unvested options and would have stuck around longer if you knew they would skyrocket? Not sure its any consolation, but if the latter, keep in mind by the time the options vested the value could be much lower. Massive bubble we're in...so who know what's around the corner a year or two out.
Just act as if you made bank when you’re interviewing so your new company will think they need to max out your offer. “Zoom huh? Wow what was that like?” “It was crazy. Wild growth. Very lucky to join when I did. I did very well there. Very well.”
“ i was like a founding member - me, Eric, and the boys”
Is this from a trump speech?
Your former colleagues probably updated their LinkedIn profiles with smiling pics. Better not to check.
Hindsight is 20/20. That's like regretting you didn't buy the right lottery ticket yesterday. You made the right choice with the information that you had at the time.
Absolutely, it’s like going to casino and moving the bet just before the end to regret moving it
