im getting laid off, though i should be looking for a job, have experience, and skills to get one easily. i dont really feel like doing it. im single, and have no responsibilities. dont really see the point of going through the cycle of leetcode to get into rat race, and exchange all my time for money, that gets printed by the government everyday for the wealthy, eventually i feel in the end im gonna be a wage slave that gets burned out. So as a productive member of the society, who has been paying taxes, etc. i feel like taking it slow and become a bum and collect unemployment checks. i see other bums do it and they have chill life, nothing fancy. but atleast no responsibilities. any thoughts?
The USA works well for two kinds of people: those that are independently wealthy and those that are bums. Any one in between gets shafted. So you either strike out be to rich and try to win the lottery or be a bum ;)
Lottery ruins most winner’s lives.
Yeah totally agree. Either get super rich or broke. Anywhere in the middle is basically a slave.
OP: sounds like you need to take a mushroom experience to clear your head. Sorry to hear about your layoff. It messes with your head in deep ways.

Only challenge next company won’t understand. Telling from personal experience
I don’t get it?
Bigger the gap longer it will take you to find a job and lower the comp will be.
You have to be looking for work to get unemployment
That easy I just keep doing code interviews for fun
Make sure you don't accidentally get an offer then!
Become a trophy husband.
I’ve seen many try but only one succeed at doing this. Their wife brings in the money and does the cooking. Like wtf?
Aka -the one exception to break the rule. Mimbo is one possible explanation.
I’m sorry, you lost me on “I see other bums do it and they have a chill life.” I think you have never really seen a bum before, their life isn’t fun.
Dude move to a beach city and work at a bar. Honestly I worked at bars when I was in my early 20s made more friends/buddies than I’d ever made 10 years in tech now. I swear all my friends back in SD are all pretty happy.
Is it easy to get bar tending jobs without prior experience? Sometimes I can be rough on the outside and tell people to fuck off if they annoy me slightly. I am a care person although I don’t sound like it.
If I were single and in my 20s, I’d try to get a job at a university.
Creepy janitor
OP you need a job to keep your H1B visa and stay in this country.
