Data Scientist position. Base salary is 10% lower than before. And I would have to relocate to Virginia. I am barely getting interviews as of now (1.5 months since laid off) Will it be a good idea to consider this or should I be more patient? Also how are job and growth prospects after joining BAH? Thank you.
Wait it out if you are not on visa
Not on visa. But need job for a living and market seems scary 😅
Still BAH might be pass since scope of greater future potential is mostly downward when you join consulting
Where are you now ? What about family situation? What was your tc? 10% reduction in Virginia may be an increase in total savings in there if you are from sfo/Seattle.
NJ. Single. Tc was 160K
Damn. VA is a more expensive market. You should be ok with that salary. Make sure you plan it out.
Take and keep interviewing
That’s what I want to do.
You're going to get pigeonholed into Gov work...if that's ok then take it.
Damn sounds scary lol
🙄 Hardly pigeon holed. Seen plenty of people migrate between govt and private (and back again) in the DMV, at least.
Only join Booz in tech roles if you’re joining the SIG
It’s not that damn
Why SIG and not something like GDG?
It’s good to get into BAH - If you can get them to set you up with a clearance that will also open more opportunities in the DC area. Short term comp does take a drop, but you can eventually get 400k+ comp.
Gotcha. That’s what I am thinking. Sounds hopeful thanks!
Commenting because I’m curious. How do you get to 400k + ? Get a TS/SCI and get into a small contracting firm ?
The 401k match will likely almost make up for the salary loss. Take it.
If you're a US citizen and you work for a defense contractor, there's no dearth of growth in terms of learning. Your TC may not grow significantly though
Yeah. I just need a job quick. So if learning prospects are good then probably it’ll help me in my next opportunity. TC growth would be low, yeah. Hopefully I can take that experience and use it after an year somewhere else
