Where do I fall in levelling spectrum? What can I expect as TC (current TC: 33L, NIL stocks) How much can I push to get l63 knowing that my TC kind of falls in its band (It does, right?) I’v churned myself over the years to become Principal engineer (in startup world) within 5 YOE. It kind of feels under-levelled to join MS at sub-senior level. Is l62 senior level or sub senior level. Does it vary with country?
How are you calculating the TC? Is it 33 base or 27base + 20% bonus or 30base + 10% target? In my opinion getting Nil stocks is not right and you should negotiate to get them.
Current TC (pre MS) is 32 base and 1 bonus
Sorry I thought that’s your offered TC in MS
I’m l60 and TC is 29 per year. You’ll get a hell lot more. But fight for l63 is real
Haha! Do we have a quantifiable value for ‘hell lot more’ 😅 Oh yea. 63 is a status symbol!
You’ll get 40-50 very easily
Unless you are joining from Google, no L 63. SDE or PM? Which org? If you are good at cross continent collaborators, working with lazy buttts with 25 years of experience in same code base and can get the work done by them already in your prior experience, I would suggest not to press for L 63.
MS offer?
You will always be underleved in any company unless you are coming from a similar positions from FAANG. Startup experience is awesome but HR doesn't accept them as 'creds' as there are more things needed to succeed in the big company. Best way is to prove yourself and push up the stack. 62 is a very good level for 5 YOE. If you are as good as you claim to be it is not hard to get promoted every year or every 1.5 years.
Thanks. This is helpful. Oh. I dint mean to boast about being good. lol I am not 😅 I just put in sleepless nights and 100 hr weeks.
