What do you think are the best cars around 20 lakhs price in India? I hear two cars often: Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta which are neck-to-neck in terms of features, price. Is it worth waiting for any new car that are going to be released in next 6 months or so? Or is it better to wait for a good electric car in India within 20-25L(if possible 😅)? Would like to know your experiences. Edit: I can extend the budget till 30L for an electric car. I don't travel much. On an average day, I travel ~30 km. But I do travel between cities(700-800 km distance) every few months. And I am only interested in fully automatic cars TC: 45L , YOE: 3.5 #Cars #KiaSeltos #HyundaiCreta #India #ElectricCars #investments #personalfinance
Which city are you in? Does it have EV charging infra? It would take at least 3-4 years for this infra to be ready, then only it makes sense to have an electric car.
I stay in Bengaluru. But I don't just travel within the city. I go to other smaller cities too, sometimes villages. So like you said, I guess it would take ~5 years to get it even in villages.
Jeep compass is good option if you can go little bit above 25L.
Harrier - it's a beast. The problem however is the service. It's unfortunate that such an awesome car is being sold by a bunch of crappy people who don't care a lot about the customers.
Why not consider Honda City 5th Gen? Will you be off roading a lot? That 1.5L baby is iconic and feature loaded. Give it a spin.
Cool, the car looks good. Honda City ZX CVT seems to be the best varient?
Tata Harrier?
Wow you've 2 cars already. How much maintenance cost for each? Also what's your NW? How much %of NW you consider buying car? Noob here, going for 1st car buy.
Dude, I never said I have Seltos and Creta, LOL
Oh sorry I read "I hear" as "I had" My bad
I got Honda city VX 6 months back. I considered others that you mentioned but they have poor safety scores. Very happy with my purchase.
So what do you attribute to for the big success of Kia Seltos in India? Looks?
Indians tend to value features and looks over safety. Even I was enamored by creta and Seltos, but after research decided my priorities were safety, space and then features and looks.
KIA is another Hyundai under the sheets. It’s a shame that it looks so good but performs ridiculously low when it comes to safety and quality of parts. Same goes for Honda these days — the new Honda city is so plastic :( I found Skoda materials to be better. Octavia or Superb or even the Kushaq. I feel they provide good value for money.
Honda city is 5 star rated
The future is electric my friend. Maybe extend the budget a bit and go for MG ZS. I am hoping that Hyundai launches Ioniq 5, would definitely buy if it's under 30.
I am willing to extend the budget to 30L. But beyond 30L, I feel its too much just for a car which may become technically old in 5 years with the advancements that are happening. MG ZS's price makes me suspicious if its really a good electric car. Wouldn't it take years for Hyundai or others to provide electric charging stations all over India?
I personally think that we just want more and more and more. A range of 250-300 kms is perfectly fine with me. I'll do a long range commute maybe once or twice a year. Otherwise for me it's mostly 50-60 kms for 90% of days and 120-150 kms for 99% so I am not much worried about the infra. What I do have is fomo on missing out on the next breakthrough in battery technology. Solid state battery or some other new things have been making noise though they still might be years away. EV charging infra will be good in thr next 3-5 years just wait for something that gives 80% charge in 20 minutes. Ioniq 5 is an example. TATA usually takes an hour to get to 80%. Very slow for a long haul.
