Robinhood GME fiasco was the final nail in the coffin for me to finally move away from the app for any serious investing. Exploring alternatives which allow me to keep the stocks for long term investing (5+ years) even if I choose to go back to home country after spending few years in the US. I have read that most stock brokerages close your account when you move out of the US. 1. Is there any that lets you keep your portfolio with updated international address? 2. If not, then I am fine with liquidating assets when I plan to move back. Was thinking of moving to Fidelity based on reviews about their app being decent and having good market research tools as well. Any red flags or gotchas with Fidelity ? Or do you have better suggestions? Note: not considering webull as I read its same as RH plus has the Chinese govt involved etc. Thanks in advance! TC: 200
Has nothing todo with visa.
Last year Merrill lynch asked me a balance of $500k if I don’t have green card. Or pay a significant monthly fee
Don’t use Merrill. Before I was even in the US, I used E-Trade (Singapore). While in the US, I used several (RH, Fidelity, IBKR) - zero issue as an H1B
Fidelity, schwab or vanguard. Why does visa matter?
Just fidelity and chill.
the best broker is TastyTrade but it’s certainly not the best software
Why? Then you need to pay tax on it?
TD Amertrade
Fidelity
