Why I Find Free Palestine Inspiring
Currently struggling in my current role. Suffering from severe family health circumstances which has spiraled me into my own mental health issues. Met with a Doctor today who said I have depression, told me to speak with a therapist and asked me to come back on Friday to look further into the Mental health issue (will be filling out DLS form here). My Manager hasnât told me that Iâm in focus but I suspect I am due to her 1on1 notes and CCng my skip on every deliverable with specific due dates. My manager is also a terrible person, doesnât care at all about me and very cold, which has put a lot of stress on me. I got an internal transfer offer last week but it was pulled due to hiring freeze, so that was that. That being said, whatâs the best strategy to not burn out and benefit from Amazon Medical Leave? (Not eligible for FMLA due to under 1 year tenure) My current plan is to go on Medical Leave (ideally for 3 months but donât know the max), and then come back so that I can internally transfer to a new team and leave my current stressful role. Wanted to hear what the bowl had to say on how to navigate this process. Thanks in advance TC:170 #Amazon
Only FMLA is a protected leave. On a medical leave, your job is not protected.
DLS clarified that FMLA exact job will be protected, while with Medical leave, you will definitely return to a job, but if for some reason there is a Re org or team change, you will be set up with a new team, but you will definitely have a job to return to.
Wow, it's interesting you've got this confirmed by DLS itself! I don't think anyone has managed to receive quite such a confirmation previously. Do you know if this was confirmed by a case manager, or just a regular phone rep? I guess if you haven't filed a case yet, it's probably just a regular phone rep? I think most people never got any answers from those, because it's all outsourced and they often have minimal knowledge of any policy, because the training for these phone reps is minimal and these laws don't mean much to them.
When on leave aggressively apply to every team possible. I slacked a bit and now there are way too many applicants for each role

Can you apply for jobs and interview during leave? I thought you are not supposed to work at all.
Goodluck, you got this. Was in similar situation early this year. Made one internal transfer then job move, in total 2 positions. Felt so much better now and I am glad I got out of toxic environment.
I spoke to a program manager on DLS to confirm the medical leave
Hey, I have close friend in exact same situation. Can you share or dm what did you provide as proof to get medical leave for mental issue ? Did you get at least 3-4 weeks of leave?
update?
On Leave and returning soon. Worked wonders for my mental health
Hey folks in a similar situation - can you please let me know if you were able to get medical leave
You can't take medical leave for any period as per your wish. You can take medical leave for - all the leaves you have accumulated + 1 month non paid leave. This is the max you get. (If you're not going to FMLA path) How do I know it : Because I'm in focus too and did deep dive on leave policies đ
I donât think thatâs accurate. I spoke to somebody on DLS today and they shared that your Doctor can write a note that will provide documentation on how continuing to work with your current medical issues will impair you. I believe itâs 12-26 weeks you can take off. Please DM if you know this isnât the case
Wait. Let me check for USA vs IN location. This folks have different policies country wise. We don't have FMLA here.
