Tons of autonomous driving startups have been established in the past two years and almost all of the car companies + computer giants like google and apple have started working on self driving cars. I have heard contradictory comments from the employees of some of these companies about the work life balance, pay rates, cultures and in general employee satisfaction level. I guess this is mainly because autonomous driving is a pretty young field in industry and there is a lot of chaos in many of these companies. Does anyone here have any experience / suggestion to share with someone with robotic background thinking about entering this field?
A friend of mine works at Peloton technologies, which does some truck stuff. She says it's full of old white men but they're pretty nice.
Motional seems good, the new Hyundai-Aptiv JV. But, it will be a shit show soon unless radical changes are made and right key external hires are made.
I have heard good things about the technology of this startup: https://www.autox.ai/. I don't know much about how it's to work there. Lyft is building a good team on autonomous driving. Tesla's auto-pilot division has gone thru a bunch of changes this year; not sure how it will shape up in the coming days.
