Hi All , I am 36 Year old with 12 years of experience in software development based out of Tampa Bay Area ( still renting ). I am at a point thinking of moving out of city for better opportunities and long term stay. I like to stay in places where 1) there are decent opportunities for technology careers unlike Florida 2) also offers warmer temperatures for most part of the year and 3) out door activities options . Please do not recommend Austin - i strongly believe it is a overhyped city for what it offers With that said could you recommend possible cities that matches my criteria above . Thank you TC-135k
Bay area suits all your criteria !
I know but can I afford housing at this point ? Have a 4 year old growing and not sure we can fit into a apartment / condo
Well that depends on how you negotiate your new salary in the bay area.
Salt Lake City
Climate ? - how is the housing market ?
Housing is cheap compared to other tech hubs. Most of the tech jobs are in UT County south of Salt Lake where housing is a little cheaper. Climate - it’s the high desert. It’s hot in the summer, and does get cold in the winter. But it’s dry. So neither extreme feels bad. The valley only gets a couple big snowstorms, but the mountains get tons and they’re close. Plenty of outdoor activities, amazing National Parks, and the food scene is actually quite good. You’ll run into people escaping the Bay Area and Seattle every day. I left CA, it sucks.
Seattle, except warmer weather.
105+ not warm enough?
Miami. That's where tech is moving.
Lol
Yeah lol at you stuck at a shitty company called Kforce and completely disconnected from where tech is growing. Miami is the hottest growing tech startup city in America. I'm moving there from the shithole that's Bay Area.
Austin
Atleast read his post.
Seattle.
You are in the wrong Bay Area
😀 unfortunate my friend. I missed the bus
