Best companies for new grads to thrive at?

I have 1 year of experience at Amazon but it was a stressful, horrendous year with terrible wlb. I didn't fit in with my team and had a lot of gaps in my knowledge. An until-recently-undiagnosed medical condition that affected my sleep didn't help. I got rated LE and my manager seems positive in thinking I'll complete it but I'm ready to throw in the towel. I just don't think I can thrive at Amazon at this point in my career. Had I come in as senior, maybe... What are some other companies that are less-sink-or-swim than Amazon? I'm looking for growth and some mentorship, neither of which I got this year. Also, I've heard it's generally recommended that new grads avoid startups because they are a time and cost sink. Do you think that's true? It would limit a lot of options.

Microsoft was pretty chill imo

I think Microsoft, Oracle, IBM might be the kind of places to warm up for bigger, more aggressive stuff later.

Interesting take. What is “aggressive stuff” in software engineering? To me that sounds like a “move fast and break things” startup. But I feel that’s not what you meant.

Amazon is a huge company with many different orgs and cultures. Try switching to a different org that's a bit more laid back if your current one doesn't match what you're looking for.
