Hi I’m trying to pivot my career from embedded to purely backend SW roles. Which companies would give a chance to people like me? Where can I learn the most and fastest about distributed systems so that I can move to companies like Coinbase/Stripe later? PS: LC count 350 and read grokking and watched YouTube for system design (only have theoretical knowledge)
Where's google?
Can’t you move within Apple?
Apple won’t be a place where I can learn the most. Also not sure if teams would give me an opportunity considering my background..many don’t focus on just LC here.
Databricks, Rubrik, any infra product?
Are the interviews based on LC? Would just theoretical system design suffice?
Heavy on concurrency and system design (interviewed with Rubrik before). 1-2 rounds on LC meds.
Amazon is actually good at this
Amazon especially AWS. I saw an ad of Amazon offering free classes to train you in distributed systems. https://aws.amazon.com/training/skills-centers/seattle-skills-center/?trk&sc_channel=PSM&trkCampaign&sc_campaign&sc_publisher=IN&sc_country=US&sc_geo=NAMER&sc_medium=TC%7CAWS+T&C+Field%7C3469612%7CAustin%7C&sc_category=Training+and+Certification&sc_segment=Training+and+Certification%7CEN%7CAW%7CAll%7CInterests&sc_content=Image%7CSkillsCenter_PaidSocial_Instagram%5B3%5D%7C2250x2251%7C&sc_detail=PROS%7CPersona%7C&fbclid=PAAaYhP-pn-QUGscpO5MzsQ7hejXmGmUb2638gE3o8fdvvXmMwCeXlfbum1HI_aem_AcBMXr03mhAxUo5YegCjgSto4m5hq0j43eYA-EG-Rlr9hRUiIca4AF_E0ntzAnRdZHqgAy1BMZfbo63x6VhRSUoY1JdE-8IZNt1hkaiTAuWSTpWvb_vcHdUiMBrO8GdxKYI
Great thanks. I’m based in the bay though. Is AWS hard to get into or is it standard LC + grokking type questions?
The technical part is pretty standard like the one you listed. One important prep for Amazon interview is understanding their leadership principles and having examples to show .
I would suggest Facebook since you can go into any backend infra team after Bootcamp
Facebook mainly because every team wants to show impact and often make a case for why things need to be built ground up. Good for learning for sure.
