Best companies to learn distributed systems?

Hi I’m trying to pivot my career from embedded to purely backend SW roles. Which companies would give a chance to people like me? Where can I learn the most and fastest about distributed systems so that I can move to companies like Coinbase/Stripe later? PS: LC count 350 and read grokking and watched YouTube for system design (only have theoretical knowledge)

Where's google?

Assumed google to not be a place where I can learn the most based on blind posts. I want to learn about the whole system and not just a small part (mostly what will happen in a big company).

And the companies you listed are small?

Can’t you move within Apple?

Apple coderios OP Dec 2, 2021

Apple won’t be a place where I can learn the most. Also not sure if teams would give me an opportunity considering my background..many don’t focus on just LC here.

Databricks, Rubrik, any infra product?

Apple coderios OP Dec 2, 2021

Are the interviews based on LC? Would just theoretical system design suffice?

Salesforce btcisascam Dec 2, 2021

Heavy on concurrency and system design (interviewed with Rubrik before). 1-2 rounds on LC meds.

Cloudflare probably

How’s the interview format?

Amazon pipmemommy Dec 2, 2021

Not sure, but I applied recently

Amazon is actually good at this

Amazon pipmemommy Dec 2, 2021

Depends on the team / product

Apple coderios OP Dec 2, 2021

Which teams are good? Which will also be open to a candidate like me

Apple coderios OP Dec 2, 2021

Great thanks. I’m based in the bay though. Is AWS hard to get into or is it standard LC + grokking type questions?

Microsoft kHn;5aL Dec 2, 2021

The technical part is pretty standard like the one you listed. One important prep for Amazon interview is understanding their leadership principles and having examples to show .

I would suggest Facebook since you can go into any backend infra team after Bootcamp

Apple coderios OP Dec 2, 2021

Thanks. Which role would be easier to get into for someone like me? Specifically looking for what role should I apply on LinkedIn.

Facebook Try Me Dec 2, 2021

It's basically a generic swe pipeline. Unless you go for data engineer etc.

Adobe Yvoo38 Dec 2, 2021

Facebook mainly because every team wants to show impact and often make a case for why things need to be built ground up. Good for learning for sure.

Anyone has insights about companies like Square/Twilio/Roblox? Would they consider candidates like me and be a good place to learn?
