Civic breaks more, rusts faster and has worse front shield angle (all that based on older models - no experience with recent models)

Have 8 year old civic with 85k miles. Haven't had any issues with it so far. I always thought both Honda and Toyota are equally reliable.

They are both great choices but Toyota will be marginally better - at least that’s my experience

The Mazda will have the best driving dynamics, but probably worst mpg. Corolla likely best reliability, Elantra/forte (same platform) best price, Honda most fanboys from Mexico. Depends on what you prioritize.
