I don’t want to work for the NSA. Are there any other government agencies that pay well?
Much better pay working for a contractor
Pension at the govt though
Why did you tag those companies... Anyways, the GS scale is public. Also there is that temporary assignment division that looks for ex tech workers. I can't remember the name. The Federal reserve is nice although not technically a govt employee, the SEC might be a little better.
Thanks for the input. For the ones you mentioned, do you know where their HQs are? I’m assuming that where their swe’s are working or do they contract that kind of work out?
DC.
Treasury and FRB in particular pay more than others. They have their own payscale Pay can be good at GSEs and similar appendices
Post office
US Digital Services and 18F seem to do good work.
Boeing
I'm pretty sure that the retirement program for federal employee was revamped and is nowhere close to what it was. I personally would prefer to work for a private company that is the primary on a government contact should I ever go back . It's not a bad gig: good hours, minimal pressure, cool people, interesting tech and you can make some pretty decent money. The catch is that you need to have a high tolerance for stupidity, be willing to push change and accept that you won't always win. Ohh and you will likely get to spend some time learning dumb s#*t like the NIST 800-53 if you are building anything.
Yea I'm not sure what it is now, but the old one works out to something like 1.5 mil with a 4% burn rate
