Beyond meat is 17% down after hrs. I was expecting them to be the best thing after butter but seems they struggle a lot. Any idea what is wrong?
they had a Starbucks deal in China, maybe they’re over expanding
Not as good as Impossible, expensive. The next big thing is cultured meat, not this stuff.
The "good" taste in food is basically just fats. All the vegetable meat substitute products are loaded with fats to make them not taste like a potato or cabbage. The products are no healthier than a regular hamburger, so unless someone is vegetarian for moral/psychological reasons, the imitation meat products don't solve a problem for the customer.
Neither impossible or beyond were intended as healthy alternatives. They're meant to be animal cruelty free alternatives, sourced from ingredients that take less land/water/energy to farm than raising an animal to maturity. Beyond those two objectives, an unhealthy guilty indulgence to match what people want in a regular burger is exactly what the market targets.
Very small total addressable market for that compared to the regular food TAM.
Doesn't taste anything like beef
The “good” is the umami flavour, in the case of meat, it comes from heme. It’s not fat.
Umami is not a real thing, it's like magic chi energy. The flavor of meat comes from fat.
You are incorrect, Amazon. A simple google will result in your becoming a better informed person.
Indian in the Bay Area, OP? Vegetarianism is a small niche in America. In the Bay Area it can seems more popular than it really is nation wide. Outside Commeifornia there just aren't that many vegetarians in America.
It’s probably a a 5 to 10 year play.
Yes I’ll tell you what is wrong. Humans like meat. Many of them tried the fake meat and decided it was not as good as the real stuff and never bought it again
Why would anyone want to eat meat substitutes? It's all processed, lots of chemicals and preservatives and unhealthy. If you enjoy eating beef, keep your morals aside and enjoy old school style. Not this shit..
America likes cheap meat - government will subsidize it to keep voters happy… good look competing against the tax man and his cash backs
