Have an offer from Wyze Labs for SDE 2 on cloud team ($260k cash + options) It's hard for me to evaluate the company? Seems like mid 2021 its PR team stopped working with news sites. Can barely find any news online of the company since then. This coincides with series B they closed (6/30/21). What is going on since then? Is revenue growing? Any new round of funding needed? IPO on the horizon? #startup #wyze #wyzelabs TC: $250k SDE 2
260k cash is huge for sde2, that used to be a senior level offer. They are desperate to find someone for the cloud team because almost everyone left. Go and read glassdoor reviews before making any decision. No IPO in the near future...
Who cares about the IPO with a 260 base. Thats more than 20% more than most SDE 2 positions pay in TC.
I should've specified better. The base is 190k and there is a 70k yearly cash bonus for s total of 260k cash. It's good for sure but it's not amazing and it certainly has more risk than Amazon. I think the IPO is the key. Why no IPO in the near future? I don't get it. Has revenue still been growing? Any new round of VC on the horizon?
What are your other options?
Don't join. Look elsewhere. Wyze is going downhill day by day and the culture is beyond toxic.
But why? Can you explain?
Where shall I start? There is no respect for employees, not only engineers but all across the board. CEOs talks down on folks all the time thinking he is the smartest in the world. The culture is very suffocating. No resources to support current and future projects, tons of tech debt, you will hear all the great visions of “democratizing technology” but the company really does not care about products or technology. Once an old product gets bad review, the solution is to launch V2, or Pro Version. The old issues never got fixed. Half of the PM team are left already. Engineering teams keep losing folks. The leadership doesn’t give a dime to the bleeding any more.
Don’t join. Read the Glassdoor review first. It’s not a real tech company. Engineers will not get any respect.
Read the glassdoor reviews. No respect to employees and problematic leadership.
Honestly, Wyze had great potential and were able to capture a decent market share. But, the leadership team has no tech experience and the CTO is clueless ex-amazon who has brought along the worst of amazon culture with him. If they had a strong tech leadership team, the company would have done so much better. Unfortunately, it’s slowly going downhill with tech debt continuing to increase. Many good engineers left the cloud team out of frustration and leadership team just gave excuses for their leaving rather than changing anything.
Would you say the cloud team is a terrible place to work right now? It looks like i may get offer but am escaping shitty management and poor wlb
Just don’t join. It’s horrible on the cloud side even. WLB is among the worst I’ve seen. They expect you to work long hour, on weekends, on holidays. Management is even worse. Completely messed up.

High pay, meaningless work
I am interested in the same but don’t have an answer for you. If you don’t mind, would be open to sharing the interview process?
