I have been working in a DNA sequencing company for 7 years after my Masters (in semiconductor process development) . What should be my pay ? I have a total compensation of around 175k. I see that people in the software side are making much more than biotech. I have no complaints but was just curious how much people with similar experience are earning. #Biotech #DNAsequencing
Yes I am in the Bay Area.

Not in biotech, but wanting to break into genomics. Are things growing or heating up? Is the pay low for regular employees still low?
Yeah the pay for regular employees is still lower than me. I didnāt include the RSUs in my TC earlier. Itās just base and bonus.
Oh, well RSUs definitely count. You should def add it in cause that changes everything
wats da point of a biotech gig if all u get is $175k??? start coding boi!!!
Rude
I didnāt include my RSUs earlier. Sorry about that. This is just base and bonus
Another data point for you: 5.5 YOE 320k TC Bay Area
Where do you work ?
Uber
Yeah, have a friend in biotech after PHD and postdoc as a senior scientist making way less than 150k.
I have 5 and a half year experience in tech. Making around 240k in Seattle
I have almost the same TC, background, and experience as you do. So I guess itās pretty standard for Biotech in the Bay?
I think so. I hope it improves
That's really good TC.
Lol Min wage for california is around 10$ per hour so if you are making more then that you should be really happy my friend šš
Which company do you work for?
175k is good for biotech, are you in Bay Area? My wife earn less than you (150k) for 2years after PHD in Boston
PhD in what? And where did she work ?
Bio PhD, a few decent companies in Kendall square can pay 140-150k for bio or chem PHD with 1-3 years industry experience. No bad for biologist or chemist, still a peanut š„ comparing with PhD in FAANG
