BlackRock vs Google?
I’m currently a tvc at Google interviewing for an admin role at BlackRock, however if possible I would really like to stay at Google and get an fte role because of all the benefits that come with it (constantly attending events for networking, free breakfast, lunch & dinner, free snacks and barista made coffee, stock, the list goes on) but im not sure if I’ll be able to find an fte role before my contract ends with everything going on right now. Does anyone who works at BlackRock want to tell me me what it’s like or what perks/benefits are given? Also~ do they do credit checks during background checks for admins? I have some things im clearing up right now
First of all, please be realistic of moving from TVC to FTE. It doesn't matter how good you are, that path is super narrow especially when you consider Google is laying off people and those people are stalking Grow trying to get FTE positions and team matches before their cutoff date (with more layoffs to come.) Also, the days of TVCs and FTEs working happily side-by-side are coming to an end. TVCs are being moved to GOVOs where they have fewer frills or remote or other ways to separate them from the pack. Finally, before you set your sites on a happy atmosphere at Google with all the frills, take a look at a lot of FTE'ers around here. Are you ready for the mind crush of GRAD and proving your worth? Or fighting for a promotion? In my opinion, the only reason to stay at Google doing TVC work is because you are doing something you cannot do elsewhere. Otherwise, soak up the experience for a while and move on. Then, in a year or two when the economy picks back up, look for a FTE role and apply externally. You are much more likely to get in that way than to think you will be converted.
