Blind = Toxic?

I've been on the platform only for a few months now and I'm just shocked at the brazen toxic environment that festers here. Every genuine question has replies from trolls and rude jerks. It is almost impossible to parse out the relevant answers from all the garbage that is spewed in comments. How could such highly educated people always be ready to jump at a chance to insult companies, career tracks, personal life choices etc. I am highly disappointed that the Technology community is filled with people like this. Anonymity is a powerful tool that enables sharing sensitive information without accountability. It should not however be used to get away with saying hurtful comments you wouldn't otherwise say out loud in public. I agree this a universal problem that comes with easy accessibility of the Internet, but I haven't seen it get as bad on some other similar platforms like Quora. Blind really needs better content monitoring before the anonymity becomes the death of it. What has your experience been with the platform so far? What steps do you think to need to be taken to enable a more positive environment?

Totally agree! I feel like when blind started the community was way better

The community is actually good. There is a small vocal minority that over engages and makes it appear that that's the dominant voice. It's not.

Blind is very toxic. It only widens the gap between co-workers.

YES! I see absolutely no point in employees from different companies attack each other while hiding behind a mask. We should all be joining forces to solve the world's problems rather than attack each other based on the fact that their company had a failed product or they are Devs vs PMs. It's disheartening what the world has come to.

Exhibit A. Clowns like this who peddle toxic memes to get likes. (/s notwithstanding) And their enablers who upvote them. Personally, anyone silly enough to display a “badge” should be avoided.

I feel it is an accurate representation of office culture with none of the censorship we suffer in our day-to-day.

Who would have guess that an anonymous social network would become toxic!?

Microsoft mkay🔪 Dec 10, 2018

BTW, sarcasm is also toxic. Thanks for your contribution to our community.

Blind is a reflection of society because it’s anonymous so people let others know what they really think and feel.

This is how people really are... It's a sad truth.

There's toxicity here definitely, but if you can filter that out you'll also find helpful content.
