I’ve seen many(not all) long term programmers with 20-25yrs+ experience struggle to adapt. What do older generation programmers miss in modern software development? What are their blind spots? TC: 150k
When we get to their age I’m sure we’ll act the same way
Following
ability to learn. different life priorities or lack of, stemina. younger men can work 12 hours a day. they learn, adopt. it doesn’t necessarily make one better programmer but the energy and drive helps. not least, young developer looks more attractive to potential employer even if he misses some questions. he can learn on the job. someone who’s failing to answer basic stuff after 25 years in the field makes a different impression.
Waste time with object oriented design rather than just hack something together with Python.
You loose some neuroplasticity with age but I think it’s mostly a matter of comfort
You become a manager and let your reports discuss blockers.
If you do well, at that age you will be the engineering director ordering your minions to do the grunt work for you.
The trick is to invest money so you don't have to work when you're that age

they are probably just unmotivated, don’t think it’s a lot of work to adapt to new tech.
