I've been interviewing for a bunch of staff & senior staff roles, comp ranges in the $330k range. These are non-gaming big-tech roles mostly recognizable named companies, though non faang. Late stage unicorns and the like. I've landed an interview with Blizzard as an SWE 2 and I'm wondering what level of compensation people expect to see from Activision / Blizzard. I'm trying to figure out how much I've got to trade off to be able to work in gaming. Current TC $160k YOE 20
20 yoe swe 2???
Sorry maybe it's senior SWE2 whatever, I'm told it's a staff equivalent.
Someone from Blizzard reached out to me on LinkedIn a couple of years ago, and I told him something like "I fucking LOVE your games, and this would basically be my dream job. But I think I'm too fat and well-paid to make it there, I'm making 300k total compensation right now" and he was like "Woah! Dang, yeah, sorry man, there's no way we can get to that level. Thanks for your time though"
Did you add a 0 by accident
Lol for a staff role? No. 300 is baseline for that tier in big tech frankly.
Where? 20 years (two decades) three hundred twenty thousand is the current range I'm interviewing in.
