It’s unbelievable what is happening with employee attrition right now at Blizzard. My LinkedIn feed is filled with “today is my last day at Blizzard” posts and I receive at least 2-4 “farewell” emails every week. And teams can’t even seem to replace those people lost—recruiting is nowhere to be found and thus not helpful. As more people leave, that extra work falls onto those of us remaining, which ultimately will only serve to drive more people to depart. Finally, this upcoming “think like an owner” stock program had better fucking be worth a lot, because if Bobby goes cheap on us with “here’s $10k in RSUs that vests over 4 years” I will fucking hit the eject button myself. #blizzard #activisionblizzard
Please fix Warcraft 3!!!
Once great company that is dying because of greed and stupidity. 🪦
It's a miracle Blizzard is still a going concern with the ratio of games they ship to the people they employ. Even at the low TC how can you afford thousands of employees on a twice-a-decade releases? Do many still pay for WoW?
That’s like 100 RSUs only! Which I think is the bare minimum that would make people marginally happy to receive.
Already heard it’s around 5-10k psu (not rsu, so depends on your perf and perf of the company - aka OW2 and D4 have to 10x) for a senior 1, no cliff but 3 year vesting. Just get out ASAP. Many great startups who are giving our equity, many ex-blizz ones.
3 year vest to receive the whole lot? There’s no incentive for only $5-$10k value. Are they insane? This will only serve to infuriate people who remain.
Yes. They already gave equity to many seniors+ last year with similar terms, on the dev teams anyways. Blizz has the lowest margins out of the companies in ABK, so no leverage to increase TC. Hiring is bad atm but not that bad to loosen Bobby’s purse strings too much.
Recruiting is nowhere to be found because they all quit already. They f’d up that org some time ago before covid and I heard the chief people person is to be blamed for all of it.
I mean this as respectfully as possible, but why would anyone want to stay at Blizzard? TC is a joke even from a games perspective, no new games, morale and classic culture are gone. Layoffs and lack of job stability are constantly a threat and even if Blizzard somehow makes a huge hit in the future the payoff wont go to the employees.
This is a solid argument, yes. I guess for me there’s some part hoping for a return to the fat profit share payouts I keep hearing about.
^^ Is it worth it to sit around and rot away for the HOPE of potentially getting bigger profit sharing? I sat around for years, and my biggest regret is not leaving sooner. At a certain point, no amount of money is worth the psychological damage sustained from the terrible culture.
Are they still only offering 10 days of PTO for the first year for new hires?
^^ Yep ^^ But in fairness, they do close the offices for the holidays for about 7 working days. But yes, 10 days PTO is standard unless you’re hired at a much higher level?
10 days for all new hires for the first year, then goes to 15 days. But there’s a ton of sick days, plus two floater days, then the already mentioned closure during the holiday.
That’s crazy. We get 20 days PTO out the gate (pending what time of the year you start)
That’s nice to know, fellow ABK member. Thanks for bringing down my day. 🙃
