Hey, I just recently got an interview offer from Bloomberg and I just wanted to know how the process is. This would be my first interview with them and I just wanted to know what to expect. Tysm! #Bloomberg #software engineering #cs #softwareengineer #tech
It really depends on the team. From my own experience and others, they ask a lot of questions about specific commands and tools that the team uses. Normally you would Google it in real life but it’s kind of you know or you don’t scenario in their interviews. Interviewers are nice. LC questions aren’t hard, most are medium. One team was super nice to me. The managers of another team were just wasting my time. I wasn’t going to be seriously considered anyway so I was interviewed by a bunch of junior engineers. Got rejected so didn’t get to the managers’ rounds. It feels like they used me for their interview training.
Ridiculous! 🙄
False
One phone round, two Virtual on-site , if you do well, they will move you to the recruiter and senior management round.
Do you have any insights what the senior/engineering manager round after the HR round is like? This is for the new grad role.
All the best and post experience later!
For what role?
Leetcode medium should be more than enough to pass. Maybe a little bit distributed systems/some basic OS concepts such as threading is asked. Don't come here though, the company morale is absolutely horrible and everyone is jumping ship as the titanic sinks 🚢
How is the office situation? Still hybrid/mandatory?
Depending on which Eng org you’re in, were recently forced to rto and a lot of people got COVID at the office. Now we can wfh til mid January lol.
If you can leetcode and have practised system design use your BB interview as practice ground and join somewhere else. It’s horribly boring and most of the engineers I know are Leetcoding. Reg interviews coding questions are from leetcode BB tagged questions and system design can be class design based as well. Also do prepare 5 answers for why BLOOMBERG? It’s ridiculous how many times they ask this question and expect a different answers.
I had three rounds for my initial virtual onsite (day one) and two rounds for my manager rounds (day two). The two rounds was more like five short rounds of half an hour each ending with a half hour hr round. HR rushed my feedback as I had a competing offer from TikTok. Passed and got my offer.
Any details of the TC?
There was one or two rounds where I could not answer in depth due to my lack of experience specifically as I’ve spent my entire career in small firms and this is my first time joining a large firm. This affected the offer but I am most likely still taking it, I think it’s good chance to move into a large firm. Base: 115k gbp Bonus: 20k gbp Signing: 10k usd (don’t know why this is in usd) Relocation: 5k gbp It’s still way higher than whatever I’m making now and I really enjoyed the team I was interviewing this. Feels like a right pick for transitioning into a larger corporate firm. The above was for senior swe, London. 4 YOE.
