I have a Bloomberg London offer as SSE. Base - £110k Bonus - £20k Sign-on Bonus - £5k Relocation - £7k YOE ~ 5 (all in Microsoft IDC) TC ~ 50 LPA (Level 62) I just got promo to 62. Thinking whether to take Bloomberg offer or apply for Microsoft Redmond internally (there is a slow down due to Hiring freeze). Main motivation is to relocate abroad and explore and no serious ideas on where to settle in long term. Bloomberg - pros : - Have the offer now to relocate. - easier immigration than US. cons : - non FAANG - tech market is smaller to move around. - High tax and expenses in London -> less savings Microsoft Redmond- pros : - Better pay and more savings. - Better tech exposure. cons : - No offer yet (Unpredictable due to Hiring freeze). - tied to company die to L1. I am in doubt on following points - - will I be able to apply for Microsoft Redmond if I switch to Bloomberg? - Is it easy to switch jobs in Europe after joining Bloomberg London? I have 2-3 days to decide so any inputs will be helpful. #microsoft #bloomberg #london #redmond #relocation
What is Microsoft Redmond pay ?
Around $130k + current stocks carry over
That’s very low for al62
Bloomberg London any day
Why?
Microsoft > FAANG + Hedge Funds + banking firms combined
Can you give any reason
WLB, decent pay, prestige, interesting products, nice tech
If you wanna move to the US you can do that from Bloomberg as well
How easy it to move via L1 ? And does it allow remote work ? Or all5 days in office
Very easy after you've spent about 12-18 months in the company. It's hybrid in most teams right now. 3 days in the office, 2 days wfh. Most people come in to office about 2 days in my team though
Accept Bloomberg offer and move to London. Improve your communication and soft skills, gain more experience and continue interviewing with other tech companies. Negotiate an L1B-based relocation as part of the offer with a big tech company, and you’re good to go. Bloomberg is also a great workplace.
Switching jobs in the UK is not easy if you’re on a skilled worker visa, but not impossible either. Your options are limited to a relatively small set of (usually large) tech companies willing to provide visa sponsorship.
How much Bumble pays in london ?
Since msft is on hiring freeze, you don't have an option other than to move to Bloomberg at the moment.
