What’s the fastest you’ve seen internally a person go from new grad to senior engineer given that Bloomberg calls an external hire with 3 YoE a Senior Engineer? Curious #engineering #software #swe #bloomberg
Questions in title and description don't match
Sorry about that, early here. Meant Senior SWE, thank you!
Senior is officially 3 years but top tier juniors will get paid on the same scale as seniors at 2 years
Gotcha, what metrics are used to qualify a junior as top tier?
Top tier gets around 20% raise each year I think.
Multiple team and TL impact. Participation in guild and our tech rep program. It’s pretty obvious who the top performers are imo
oops meant to reply to top tier rating question
You do not need to participate in guild to be a top performer lol
There's no concept of levels. 'Senior' is just a title here. If you're good enough, you will be given high visibility projects very quickly.
It takes 3 eval cycles for a fsd to be a senior swe
New grad to senior swe? Or new grad to senior manager. Senior swe always at 3 years I think, senior manager would take 8 years even if you’re gifted
Sorry about that, early here. Meant Senior SWE, thank you! So 3 years is still a set standard even internally?
