Guys and gals I’m a fresh grad and i got two offers on hand, really can’t decide between the two jobs so i need some inputs from you! 1) Bloomberg Sales and analytics offer: $79k All-in comp. Work at Analytics for 1 years then move to Sales mostly. Great financial knowledge and terminal training. Not sure about the pay rise and exit opportunities tho. Client-facing work. 8-6 job but i heard its pretty stressed in that 10 hours lol. 2) JP morgan corporate analyst development program: 2-year rotation program, $70k all-in comp, almost guaranteed to become an associate from the 3rd year and pay rise is a must. Not sure about how long it takes to become a VP. It’s a middle office role and idk if i can lateral out to FO. But WLB should be amazing, its a 8-5 job. I actually don’t have much vision about where i will end up in, I’m not sure i like sales that much but at the same time i hate the boring job nature in Middle office, especially Jpm has a lot of bureaucracy shits (but idk if bbg is the same tho). I also like a meritocracy role where i can work harder and earn more vs MO role where things are capped and no matter how hard i work i still get the same level of salary. (As a side note I’m from down under, figures above are in AUD) Appreciate any constructive advice and insights about salary bump in BBG Sales/JPM MO!!#finance #bloomberg #jpm #jpmorgan #mo #sales #analytics
Go JP - just the brand name and reputation should help you leverage it into Better paying opportunities or grad school in the future
Analytics at bbg is just responding to customer requests - it’s customer service. Terrible job and no strategic experience.
I can’t deny that but moving into sales is the real meat of the program?
I can tell you BBG you'll be expected in the office pretty much 5x a week very soon. So also consider your quality of life
JPM is at the forefront of getting everyone RTO’d, so it’s not going to be better there on work flexibility.
So the company offers no WFH for sales n analytics?
Bloomberg is at least in that area a meritocracy, and if you're willing to have no wlb so that you can go above and beyond in what is already a demanding job, there are lots of cool roles in the company with great wlb that will open to you, including outside of sale (product owners, business stuff, etc). But it will suck at the beginning to do the customer service, and there will not be any point to the pain unless you put in extra time on top of it
Hey mate appreciate you insight. When u say no WLB, how bad is that for a sales? It won’t be as bad as IBD right?
I went through an analyst program at JP and now at BBG. As many people have already alluded to, JP gives you more credibility IF you want to be in Financial Services. If you’re more interested in Tech, Bloomberg might be a place to consider but there are also better options for a tech company. Part of my value at Bloomberg is having the JP experience. Happy to chat more if you like
Hey mate I’ll PM u, thanks!!
BB in FO vs JPM in MO? If I'm reading this right, it's much easier to move between companies vs. profession. It'll likely be more stressful in the FO but if you're after comp, that's likely to lead to more.
Bbg sales is a grind, clock watching, CRM update watching etc. It's a different type of sales. I know enterprise salespeople who moved to terminal sales and then promptly left as it isn't really sales. However... Bbg is a good company to work for with amazing benefits, on another plus side in sales your hotel points will stack fast especially if you have a remote territory to look after . Post covid of course! Been at bbg nearly 10 years.
Hey mate mind if i pm u?
Went through the program, currently in sales. Feel free to PM if you want to chat
avoid bloomberg at all costs. would not wish it on my worst enemy
Mate can you share more about it pls?? Whats your experience??
Not sure about BBG but JP morgan corporate analyst development program is really good. Lots of opportunities to move up quickly
Hey valky thanks for the comment. Can u elaborate more? Like how long does it take to become a vp? Also how does the salary prospect look like throughout? Lastly, is it easy to lateral out to FO? Thank you !!!
Looking for a Vp role at this point of time of career is something which you should not be looking for. As VP is a very seniour role and it takes time. But With above two options Chase Is a better option . As you get to work with multiple team.
