Was in the interview loop with Bloomberg, I was interviewing for two separate teams and did a first round technical for the first one. Received a email rejection for both roles even though I haven’t done my upcoming technical interview for the second one. Kind of confused, since I thought I did well on the first technical screen and didn’t expect a rejection. Is Bloomberg going thru a hiring freeze? Edit: role was filled* 4YOE Prev TC: 265k
Similar thing happened to me. I scheduled my interview and just a day before my first interview, I got a mail saying the team has decided to shift strategies in favor of candidates with more tenure. Very unprofessional
I would say they were actually nice because atleast they informed you before interview rather than wasting your time and then rejecting you later for the same reason!
Bloomberg is probably flooded right now with laid off west coast people trying to get in.
I hâte to say it, but thinking you did well isn’t the best indicator…there’s always that 5% chance you missed something etc. And they used the performance for the first round in loop 1 to make a decision for loop2
Everyone laid off wants to join BBG. There's probably a lot of qualified candidates interviewing for any particular role
I do recruiting, we have an enormous influx of strong candidates so people are getting rejected very easily these days if they don’t do well enough in the filter rounds
There is no freeze at bbg, I think the bar is set high at the moment with lots of people laid off from maang companies. These people have probably memorized 100s of leetcode and perform better in phone screen
There's a freeze for new grads.
no way i’m waiting to hear back 😢
Note also it's the job of the interviewer to make you feel you have done well. E.g. sometimes you solve the problem sub optimally, but because you ran out of time you'll not be pressed for an optimal solution. So in that case even though you solved the problem you didn't pass the interview bar.
LETS GO WE’RE CRACKED NOW
No hiring freeze, we are slowing down on senior hires.
Hiring freeze for new grads.
The bar is incredibly high right now. I know multiple teams that are only taking interviews with 5+ YOE engineers. There’s very little room for mistakes since the market is in favor of employers, small mistakes are the differentiators right now since there are many excellent engineers looking for jobs, lined up right behind you Not saying I agree with it, just telling you what I’ve seen internally
Do you do referrals? i have 5yoe
What are small mistakes, do you mean like making a bug in a coding interview? What if you fix it on your own?
incoming layoffs at bb

Fake news. Private recession proof never layoff engineers ever. Best place if job stability is top priority
