#engineering #bloomberg #offer Hi, I left Dropbox as ic4 a year ago and I currently work a at small startup with relatively high TC (I’m not located in the us) . Tc is 340k USD, but the split is 50% options and I’m not sure I will ever see actual money in my bank account from these options, therefore decided to leave. Dropbox offered 320k usd to as boomerang with no cliff + refreshers for second year and I decided not to take their offer. Now I have few options: 1. Take the bloomberg offer of 290k usd (tc). Split is around 80% cash and 20% target bonus. 2. Continue interviewing for e5 at google. I got 2 yes for system and 1 yes from the manager, but the coding was so so, and they offered me to redo coding. 3. Start a loop at datadog or doordash. How is it at Bloomberg for an engineer? How good are the internal tools? How high can the bonus go? Is there a yearly raise? What is the rate? Is it considered a tier 1 / tier 2 company? Can I negotiate the offer? The recruiter told me I can’t, but I wonder if this is actually true.
Yoe??

Negotiate more BBG
Come to GS instead
How's TC and wlb for Sr SDE?
@OP Having worked at a bank, I'd advise against this.. especially given your interests in cloud, etc. In my experience the dev roles at banks that are even close to revenue generation are not going to be doing a lot of cutting edge cloud projects (maybe for some back office stuff). Front office tech at GS will largely be proprietary, i.e. use esoteric languages like slang
Do they offer remote?
Bloomberg- no, just hybrid. Dropbox offers remote
What kinda role is this! Bloomberg is usually chill and great wlb
What went wrong with the coding round at G? Was it lack of preparation (which is addressable)?
I only did two days of leetcode, so yes. Recruiter said I got weak yes for the first one and weak no for the second. Not sure what was the mistake, at the start of the interview I explained my algorithm and the interviewer said it makes sense. Then I just implemented it. Maybe there was a planned follow up that we didn’t cover 🤷♀️
Not much difference in Bloomberg vs dropbox offer. B is chill, secure and good wlb. I'd take B. But surprised dropbox offer is so low? I though it'd reach 400-500K for 10+ experience. Btw, how was interviews at Bloomberg? rounds, questions?
I’m not based in the us…
I’d stay away from DoorDash.
Why did you leave Dropbox?
I have been there several years and wanted to catch up with new public cloud technologies. At Dropbox everything is made in house, even databases. I kind felt I lag in regards to knowledge and experience compared to people who work with aws/serverless/ datadog and so on.
A large majority of roles in bloomberg won't have what you are looking for
