Hello blinders, please review my Bloomberg offer for Frankfurt location. Base Salary: 80k Bonus: 5k Relocation: 5k All figures in euros. Current TC based in India: 45k USD ~ 38k Euros YoE: 3 #engineering #compensation #bloomberg #frankfurt #germany
Don't listen to other people. €90k for 2 3YoE is a great offer. Once you are in Frankfurt you can just jump around every two years and TC will follow up.
Which company in India
In Germany you rarely get this kind of pay. Normal engineers gets paid 50K euro per year graduated from top German schools. When I was asking 60K salary for a German tech company, they said it was ridiculous. 😂 90K TC is enough for you to have a good life in Frankfurt. 90K euro is similar with 180K$ in SF if you check Numbeo.
Hello, Thank you for the information. Do you work at Bloomberg, Frankfurt ? I have a concern that my current TC in India is 38k Euros out which ~5k is RSU value considering 10 Euro per RSU but I know that the RSUs have potential of reaching 30 -50 Euro price. I requested for more bonus component but, I'm told that they cannot offer more that what is offered. If I consider Numbeo I would need way more salary than the one offered currently but I understand the salaries are in general less and okay with the Base part. What is concerning is the Bonus part. What do you think I should do ?
Townscript. I'm not from India, but as someone from a South American country with artificially deflated currencies and much lower standards of living than European countries I may as well share my perspective. I would certainly go for it. Yes, money works differently in Europe. You will learn to manage and figure out that you can spend way less than you think. For sure, you are not going to save as much as you would if you were living in a cheaper country with lower taxes, but €80k will be enough for a comfortable lifestyle. More than that, the experience will be great for you and you may even change your perspective on things. One of my friends from India actually told me about how his attitude towards money changed here in Europe. At first he was all about saving money to buy land back home; living frugally and counting the time to go back. After 5 years he decided that he is not going home at all, instead he's using his savings to put down a deposit for a house here. He told me that where he lived he could basically buy a farm with the money that he's spending to buy a small place in Europe, but he can't see himself going back anymore. Again, this is up for you to decide, but I would take €80k base in a developed country over $38k in my home country's even if I had stocks that could reach the magical 3 to 5x valuation mark.
I don't want to divert your attention but I may as well want to mention to interview for tech companies in India. At 3 YOE, there are tons of big tech and unicorns in India who would happily pay you around 60-80 LPA if you are good. I feel living in a city like Bangalore with that money could be a better and less stressful deal! Again, just my 2 cents :)
Well everyone is happy to give their two cents without considering the 35% tax for nothing!
Did you specifically interview for Frankfurt location, or for London ?
That’s a decent range for your experience and in general there’s a parity in Germany or Netherlands. You simply don’t get paid ridiculously like in the US. If making money is your motive then you’d be better off in the US and if you still prefer EU over US then I’m afraid London is the only other option for you.
Salaries in London are still terrible when compared to the US, plus taxes are high. You will also be dropping anywhere between £1400 and £3k per month in rent for a flat. London is really not an option if you are looking to save a lot of money (other than US I would recommend Singapore and UAE - you know, rich countries with lower taxes). Still, we don't need to worry about getting charged $100k for using an ambulance and taking a couple of x-rays. I also actually take vacations and enjoy my life. To each their own, but I would personally take Berlin and London over SF or New York any day.
BTW, I'm paying way over 35% in taxes. And it's not for nothing, it's at the source of what enables the lifestyle that I want to have (not worrying about getting bankrupt just because I was sick, actually enjoying vacations, knowing that my children will not be paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in college tuition and student loans, etc). For people that agree that taxes are for nothing, the best advice that I can give is: Stay away from Europe. You will not be happy here.. Like I said, US, Singapore and UAE are all good options with lower taxes.
Is it through new grad program??
Wow, that's pretty low. Go only if you want to go "out"
Oh, based on my yoe, how much do you think I should be expecting then?
Have seen 110k base on blind for 2 YOE
