How’s company’s culture, pay and wlb? What’s the senior swe pay? Can they give 300-350k+ all cash since they don’t have stock I guess? Looks like they only give base salary + 15-20% bonus. #bloomberg
Looks like you still live in the 2021 tech bubble 😅 The world has changed, SWE are worth 🥜 now
I would love that bubble to burst but Inflation isn’t dead sir!!!! My grocery bills have gone 2 folds, rent has gone up double digit but yearly pay raise is still less than 5% Looking for a job in lay-off environment isn’t easy but inflation is making me think about job hopping to increase paycheck so that I can keep up with inflation and bills If inflation goes down then I don’t want to switch
The low inflation high TC days are gone. Now it’s low TC high inflation days, my friend. Wake up and accept the new reality.
Does Bloomberg allow remote working? Or WFH few times a week?
Hybrid
You can definitely get 300+ if you have the experience/impress in the interview. Senior is a really wide band here since we don’t have levels - for ICs you’re either a junior or senior engineer. So some “senior” engineers make ~220 and some make >400, just depends on YoE and impact
Do the expectations for a senior swe at bloomberg differ depending on how many YOE?
Definitely, but not in an official role/capacity. Expectations are honestly pretty low for anyone though, unless actively gunning for high raises/promotion to management there’s not really ever a need to work hard
Wlb and culture are taking a definite hit. There are some horror stories already in the bbg page. From strictly enforced rto. New engineering metrics, increasing expectations in very vague ways. Internal transfers being blocked by managers. Increase in toxic behavior from management. They are cashing in on the market down turn. They can't ruin their no layoff reputation but they sure can make lives miserable enough to quit.
Are people getting PIPed more nowadays? Is this for all the teams or just some of them? Do you have to be in the office at a certain time for RTO?
I think the pips are coming as a result of the new metrics. Yes some teams are clock watching
Do the expectations for a senior swe at bloomberg differ depending on how many YOE?
Yes you can get 350k range but you have to really impressed with experience and the tech rounds.
The Senior is very broad there. Even 3 yoe can be senior and they start at about 220k. So you could be like 7-8 yoe and make 330k Source: Interviewed there when I had 3 yoe and was quoted 200k+
200k is super low 🫣
I was barely scraping the Senior title. And it was their initial offer. I couldn’t clear the final round so never got to the negotiation
