I am working in Amazon right now and I got an offer from Bloomberg. I’m getting better compensation (35% more) and opportunity to learn new technologies. I feel I have plateaued in Amazon and not doing exciting stuff. I am not sure about if moving to Bloomberg from FAANG will reduce my opportunities later since it’s not considered “core tech”. What have been everyone’s experience with working in non-FAANG companies? Do they feel they get less opportunities to interview? Do recruiters move FAANG candidates to top of the list? Sorry for being so paranoid, but I hope the community will guide me the best. Should I stay in FAANG or move to Bloomberg? Current TC:210K#offer #tech
Worked in Bloomberg and so did many people in FANG in NY. Bloomberg has the best WLB of any big company in NY by far. Bloomberg will also help you get into hedge funds by educating you on finance jargon. I hated it there because I wasn’t growing but my team only worked 5-10 hours per week.
Are all teams that chill? To be honest I would rather want it to be not chill and learn and grow which I feel is not happening at amazon anymore.
Not all teams are that chill. The PORT team I heard was 50-60 hours per week which is some of the worst i saw. Many friends were working 25-35 hours per week with almost no on call.
Just say you work in Amazon dude
I think my post clearly states that.
Other than mentioning FAANG 5 times in it and in the title
Has anyone moved from Bloomberg to FAANG?
5 years at Bloomberg fresh grad, joined google L5
Nice what all did you prep for L5? And how were the interviews?
This is Bloomberg vs Amazon. Just be honest with yourself.
I think OP wants to know if she can come back to FAANG if she moves to Bloomberg
Please search LinkedIn yourself, 700+ people have moved to Google from Bloomberg
Is amazon a FANG experience for Engineers? I thought it’s Apple
Googlers will never say FAANG; while Amazonians always say he’s from FAANG
Ok. Thanks for this useful information.

Bloomberg is imposter tech and everyone in tech knows it
What makes you say so? The team I talked to is revamping the product and apparently one of the most lucrative teams in Bloomberg.
@inhale I didn't knew VMWare still exists. I thought it got obsolete a long time back!
