Received New Grad offers from Bloomberg and LinkedIn. Both companies are great for their engineering value. Was an intern at LinkedIn this summer, really liked mh time there. Really loved Sunnyvale too. But considering layoffs and such I am scared (international Masters student) Please help me in providing inputs about the pros and cons for both offers. #bloomberg #linkedin

Go Bloomberg. LinkedIn will drive u crazy. I’m from LinkedIn
You moved to Microsoft? Why?
Why not? LinkedIn is shitty company now where culture is dying and technology is behind. MSFT tech is way advanced here esp for this AI LLM trend. In this brutal job market jumping to MSFT is even not easy
You liked Sunnyvale? Are you sure you spent enough time outside the office/house?
I generally like living a quiet life. Hence liked Sunnyvale.
Bloomberg, then move on to other fintech afterwards.
Congrats! If you don't mind me asking, how long after your EM round did you get a response?
For bloomberg? 7 business days
Thanks!
Are you an international student ?
Yes
How did you get the call for bloomberg ?
How many applications and how many interview call backs?
Only these two no other callbacks or even OAs
Avoid avoid avoid LinkedIn. Your internship experience isn’t representative of the full time experience since your projects are self contained and your manager shields you more. Engineering value is terrible at LinkedIn and most perks and culture have been cut. 50 hr plus work weeks are common. Don’t let that money fool you, after tax the difference isn’t that great
Linkedin right now is a dumpster fire. Unless its a Sys Infra team don’t bother for now. But visa wont be an issue they will move you to Canada no worries on that. But good TC difference not to ignore. Its not doom & gloom so might as well join.
I’m in a sys infra team. So should I still consider?
Sys infra is the better one. More money and funding and better work. At least you will learn something useful. But expectations are also higher
When did you interview at Bloomberg?
Choose Bloomberg. It’s recession proof. Even if your OPT expires, they will relocate you to Canada or UK and bring you back with L1 Visa after year. Your visa status should be your top priority in making selection not TC. The people who voted LinkedIn clearly have no idea the stress that comes from being an international student worrying about layoffs. You’re smart enough to land two offers so you better make wise decision that you won’t regret in future especially when it comes to your visa —just sharing from experience.
