Bloomberg or Microsoft for new grad if I'm interested in high performance computing and low level stuff? TC: Bloomberg NYC 145 + 20 (will negotiate) - Msft Seattle: 112 + 120 (over 3.5 years) + 30 (sign-on first year) #bloomberg #microsoft
Which team at BBG? Most of the teams don’t do high performance and low level stuff.
they said i'd be able to pick teams after training
Ok. I would still pick BBG for the first few years of your career. You can learn a lot and switch after few years. Don’t stay for long, TC stagnate.
For MSFT you’ll also get a 0-20% annual bonus. Assume 10%. Seems like a much better deal at MSFT.
Microsoft for what you say you want… doubt Bloomberg writes their own OS and compute stacks and is a hardware vendor. MS has every low level thing you’d ever want to do (assuming you love MS stack for development).
MSFT is much better deal
Given the TC comparison, MSFT all the way. I am surprised you are even asking this question :-). If you are hell bent on moving to NYC, find a better offer. Or work at MSFT for a couple of years and keep interviewing, join BB as senior (or some other company). MSFT scale and work quality would probably be better.
Hey, congrats on the offers stranger!! I was wondering if you could please tell me a little about the manager round @ Bloomberg? Were you asked any system design questions?
Bloomberg. You’re gonna have a lot more fun in NYC than cold gloomy Redmond.
