Going to join bloomberg sometime in August. Has the company given any updates regarding when the wfh might end? Rec told until Sept 1. But trying to if the employees have some more info on that and also the mindset of the bbg employees to be ready to commute taking public transport during these times.
Officially, it's indefinite. But based on an interval survey, literally only a handful of engineers are desperate to go to the office as of now, so this year seems very unlikely for engineering.
There was another bloomberg employee in some other post said the head of Engineering is against wfh so employees might actually be called to join in September . So that really shook me up. Being from else where I really don't want to go through the pain of shifting and exposing myself to I dont what during the process let alone the worry of taking a nyc metro or path train.
Not sure about head of engineering, but most of management committee (including Mike Bloomberg) is indeed against WFH. But I don't think there's any chance they will force engineering to come to office when literally 99% of them are not comfortable or ready yet. Personally, I don't think there will be any mandatory requirements to return to office until we have a vaccine and/or NYC goes beyond Phase 4, at least for engineering.
Hey OP, can you please share some insights about interview with them? I have one coming up pretty soon. Any insights will help. Thanks! 🙏
Hey please dm regarding what specifically you are looking for. Id be happy to help
We are having a soft reopening of the office on July 27, where whoever that wants to come can sign up and fill some forms to get building access to start coming. I don't know anyone who is actually planning to go to the office though, and I highly doubt that the office is going to "fully" reopen in September.
Top of HR or management committee (Mike et al) will send a maybe monthly email that says little more than we’ll continue to follow local public health entities’ advice. Like nanochips said, soft reopening is really soft. There will be at least forms before they decide reactivate your badge at all, and building entrance temp checks will continue. Still a far cry from the masses that work in 731/919/120 being ready to commute from the upper east side let alone NJ/CT
Beefsatay do you think most employees live in UES and Nj and CT and not other boroughs or Long Island? I’ve noticed most of my team is in NJ.
From the conversations I’ve heard, I don’t expect engineers to return to the office on 2020 at all.
Soft re-open July 27th, as nanochips mentioned. But not employees are NOT expected to go into the office.
Only essential workers are really being allowed back in the office on the 27th, TV/NEWS, some senior ENG staff and some other business units but no mandatory return to the office this year.
Has news been there already? I am curious if they can run a TV channel remotely.
I watch or have it on while I work and they had their own home office stream but recently they’re back in the studio.
It's not happening by end of year. We've been told you come back when you feel ready. I am very sure nothing is happening till next year.
Definitely not happening till vaccine comes. Commute and elevators are reasons even vlad reports have said they themselves fe not comfortable with
Lol Sept ain't happening
Just curious. Are you an employee or someone going to join bbg? Or is it a general opinion that Sept ain't happening?
