I'm being courted by a recruiter for a Mechanical Design/Analysis Engineer role at Blue Origin. The position is in Kent, WA and he said they are hiring like mad. I live in San Diego. He asked me what hourly wage would make it worthwhile for me to make the move. He was like "70, 80, 100? Give me a number." I have 4-5 years of experience, and my current company has really good benefits and job security (as opposed to a contract position). What should I say?
Say $500/hr
Really? For reference I make $86,000 a year right now, but I'm sitting on another offer local in SD for 105k.
Can you connect me with the recruiter? I have 2.5 years of exp in validation, testing and product development
Don’t don’t it.
If he said 100, I'd ask for 125 an hour
Yes. Above. If he mentioned a number already, then that’s your floor. Say $135. Meet at 125.
At least 3-4x what you’d get as a salary employee, assuming they are not giving you benefits.
It's a 6 month contract with Blue Origin reserving the right to hire me at any time. He said that they "expect years of work."
