Booz Allen offering $100k as Senior Consultant Software Engineer. When asked I was told the maximum is $110k which seems low. Has anyone successfully negotiated higher salary? YOE: 2 years Software Engineer, 4 years total (EE undergrad) TC: $97k #booz #allen #software #engineer
I agree with @Moistboxx that is about right. However, if you are only at the intro phase of an interview process, see it through. If you get an offer, counter with what you want. It takes a firm like Booz a lot of time and effort to get someone to an offer and the additional 5k isn't worth starting the process over for.
If you ever want to become a PM a top consulting firm on your resume may help. Industry and market exposure also helps. Other outs could include technical business development, technical strategy consulting, strategic account management. Not so sure it helps if you want to stay in IT/engineering.

I'd say that seems about right in defense for 4 YOE. I was around $140k with 8 YOE The only way it's going to be significantly higher is if you switch out of defense I'm afraid.
Thank you for replying. The job seems a great breakthrough in the software industry for me. Only wished they would offer ~115k.
