I'm a new grad with two offers: - 130K in Boston - 185K in Cupertino Which one should I take, and how do these salaries compare considering their location? Assume that the money I'm able to save is the sole metric to optimize. (Single, mid 20s)
Boston is (also)expensive and weather is shitty.
ABC my friend. Don’t ever forget this Anywhere But California
The poll is remarkably in the opposite direction though
Bay Area folks want everyone to go through the same misery (horrible commute, crowds everywhere, multi million dollar shacks, homelessness, etc.)
Boston is pretty expensive and there are more job opportunities in California than in Boston.
For early career, better to be in a place with more action/opportunities (CA).
For long term career growth, if you do not plan on starting your own business, go California. The tech opportunities are just so much greater and thus higher salaries yoy
Depends if you like the sun and concrete hell (cupertino) or the snow and a real city (Boston). Why make a huge life decision over essentially pennies in TC?
Boston is not that much cheaper... maybe 600-1k a month cheaper. The 55k pay difference will be like 30k after taxes so you will still come out ahead.
