Starting a job at Broadcom in Bloomfield, CO. Trying to decide between living in Denver proper or Boulder. I love the outdoors and would like to able to trail run any day of the week. However, as a single male seems social life would be better in Denver. I'm not the most social person but I would like to have a more options for dating. Thoughts? YOE: 2yr TC: 150k
Why not stay somewhere in-between like Broomfield where your job already is? Easy commute between Boulder and Denver and much more affordable.
I’ve lived in suburbs before and hated it. Walking distance to parks and restaurants greatly adds to my QoL
I'd do Denver just for easier public transport
Two good choices IMO.
I've lived in both and also lived in Broomfield. I'd choose Broomfield because I like being able to go up to Boulder for hiking in the morning, then go into Denver for nightlife and to meet up with friends. Being between is so convenient. There are little pockets that feel less suburby, like the development by 1st bank center. You can walk to restaurants there. Otherwise, definitely choose Denver over Boulder. Boulder is way more expensive and fewer of your friends and colleagues will live there, so it's harder to be social.
+1 good suggestion. Definitely better selection of properties here as well.
bloomfied seemed decent if you have wife and kids or something but w. highlands/berkeley part of Denver seemed more my speed
I thought Boulder is like a university town, so there must be some nightlife.
2 years of experience.. What level?
Boulder is very hipster, super progressive, rich white ppl vibes. Interesting mix of uni students, professionals and a lot of older folks. But it's a very small town. I would live in Denver over Boulder easily. Lots more ppl your age, more diversity, more stuff to do, some infrastructure if you wanna cycle around. Living in between as mentioned isn't a bad idea either because it isn't too far. Don't wanna make things about race but are you white? I feel like if you aren't you might feel a lot more comfortable closer to Denver.
yeah I am signing a lease for NW Denver. visited Boulder and it's beautiful but seemed small besides the university. hoping to visit often and would love to settle there if i had a family
There are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities from Denver. Boulder can be a bit snobby and extra granola-y.
