Box VS Dropbox

Currently I’m trying to decide between Box and Dropbox. I have a couple other offers, but for one company the TC was way lower and I didn’t like the team at the other one. Note: this is remote lcol so that’s why the numbers are lower Dropbox (IC1) Backend or Infra Base: $105,000 RSU $29,000/yr Bonus: 5% Sign on: 25k Pros: - Good vibe from manager - Good WLB (Unlimited PTO, Company PTO, Core collaboration hours) - Better better brand name - No major technical debt like Box - More structured mentorship and learning resources (programs for more junior engineers, different trainings, tech talks, etc.) - Better perks (401k match, $7000/yr for anything, better health insurance) - Newer team/product with more opportunity for impact - More visible path to promotion (1-2 yrs) - Decent refreshers - Fully remote/distributed team Cons: - Lateral move level wise (L1-> IC1) - Lower TC (than box) Box (SWE) Infra Salary: $150,000 RSU $39,000 Sign on: 4k Pros: - Good WLB - Higher level (swe3 vs ic1) - Opportunity to learn a lot about distributed systems (infra team that has a multi-cloud architecture and handles tons of requests and data) - Higher level (higher expectations) Cons: - Worse Oncall (can expect a night page) - Possibly have to deal with legacy debt - Less visible path to promotion (2-3 yrs) - No structured mentorship program or learning resources - Majority of the team will be on-site. - Slower ramp up time (due to size of system) - Iffy refreshers (some employees have said they recently redid their refresher program to encourage employees to stay) Current TC: 104k Full-time YoE: 0.8
