Box vs PayPal
Hello everyone on Blind, Please help me make a decision. I currently work as a Software engineer in Machine learning. I have two competitive offers to decide from: Company: Box Title: Software Engineer 3 Backend with Data Platform - Compute & ML team TC : 260k first year, 245k later(195k base/9000 shares/15k sign-on) Work: Strong engineering (Big data/Cloud Compute/Machine Learning) Company: PayPal Title: Data Scientist 2, ML - Global Data Science Team TC: 245k first year, 230k later (165k base + ~20k yearly bonus/135k over 3 years/15k sign-on) Work: Data scientist with focus in machine learning algorithms and applications. Hi OP, Congrats on the offers. I see that our Yoe is same and I’m currently interviewing at Box. I would appreciate if you could give some pointers on your phone screen and on-site interviews? Also, I don’t see Swe 3 level at Box in levels.fyi. It’s either Swe or Sr. Swe So is Swe3 == Sr. Swe?
SWE 3 is just before Sr as per recruiter. Box doesn't have many levels but there are different pay bands within the same level. Depends on interview performance and YOE.

I would go with PayPal for better stability, work life balance. Stock price will definitely shoot up with interesting projects they are working on. That’s also great offer for < 3yrs experience. If you compare it, box doesn’t have bonus and PayPal base plus bonus will definitely go higher than box base as historically company had high bonus payouts. There are stock refreshers and salary hikes every year. Just compare the stock performance for last 5 years. You will get your answer.

Well, it depends on the team. Some teams are really good, culture is awesome and you will see people usually with long tenure.
How long did box take to respond with an offer?
Ask for more money from Paypal. Saw some Blind posts earlier, where base is 175k, RSUs can go upto 225k over 3 yrs.
They said its final from their side for my experience. (yoe: 2.9)
Is it MS+2.9 or Phd + 2.9 ?
