I currently have offers from all three and would love to get others opinions. Which would you choose? ByteDance: 2-1 Reddit: L3 Facebook: IC4 Facebook - I made the mistake of going through the Enterprise Systems Engineer (ESE) loop instead of Production Engineer (PE), which is greatly limiting the compensation. Accordingly to my recruiter this is the max offer for this IC4 position. I did ask the recruiter to see if it would be possible to get me through an expediated PE interview loop and am waiting to hear back on that. If I were to take this offer as is, I'd like apply for PE after a year. Reddit - I don't have to worry about rent currently, so the Reddit offer is very appealing in that regard. Also the team seems great from my interactions with them and seems young enough for me to have a lot of impact. ByteDance - I've read through all of the horror stories, but at the end of the day, I already work 996 so I wouldn't expect too much of a lifestyle change. I would have to relocate to Mountain View which is the major negative for me. But for that much compensation, it seems dumb not to take it. I don't speak Mandarin but I've been told that there's less interactions with China for newer employees since a lot of the communication with China has already happened with older employees. My long term goal is to be remote, but I'm looking to maximize the next 4 years of my career (in terms of learning and increasing my compensation/level), even if that requires moving to the Bay Area. What is ese?
I'll update my post but Enterprise Systems Engineer. Essentially a Production Engineer but lower hiring bar and you're working on internally facing products.
What is the base salary for these three offers?
Reddit/TikTok 190k Facebook 165k
And ByteDance?
Unless you’re Chinese skip the CCP I mean byte dance
Congrats! Go with Reddit or FB. Thank me later.
260 remote can go wayyy further than 320 minutes. Reddit easy
Dude you have no idea how bad ByteDance actually is. Sell your soul for a year and time skip to gtfo.
Why it’s bad?
Normally I would say Reddit if you cared about remote vs not, but you specifically said you’re looking to maximize earnings/potential so I vote ByteDance. Not only does current comp way better and how that then effects next job trajectory, but you also have to consider 4 years later Reddit will likely still be same as how it is right now, while ByteDance/TikTok at least has a chance to gain even more prestige. Part of maximizing is a willingness to bet a little. Facebook the way you describe it shouldn’t even be in your consideration. Going in with one foot out the team door is not good for maximizing. I have a good WLB at ByteDance. But I’m really good at saying no and not making myself answer every single unread message. If you join your happiness will depend on your team and how good you are at these two things.
OP bu hui shuo Zhongwen. Meiyou promotion meiyou $$$
If you’re already 996 then go for ByteDance because your comp will be much higher after IPO compared to other offers.
From what you said, seems like Reddit is a no brainer
I think my bias is in part to the fact that I've had the chance to have actual conversations with my interviewers at Reddit, but I never felt that I had the opportunity in my TikTok interview loop, so I never got a real employee perspective. If you don't mind me asking, and I'm not sure what side of the org you're in, but do you enjoy your work environment?
I enjoy mine, but my experience maybe different than yours and it’s really up to you how you want to make out of your situation.
