It blocks ads and it’s usable. They’re starting to promote it. Is this the end of internet ad companies? They say it blocks YouTube ads too. Sounds like that business model of ads is at risk, at least in part. And obviously Chrome too. Any insights? Do you think it’s going to get banned? I think it will definitely going to create some juicy high-profile lawsuits.
And block this on Android blocks almost everything
How to block Blind ads on iPhone?
Wipr, best dollar ive ever spent on an app https://apps.apple.com/au/app/wipr/id1030595027
Does it also block YT ads?
Is that why Snap doesn’t make any money? Our engineers don’t know that ad blockers exist? 😂😂😂
Don’t be myopic. It’s different when it’s packaged in a friendly, easy way to the mass consumer, and when there’s an awareness effort. It drops barriers of entry dramatically. Remember GNU/Linux kernel recompilation to get proper drivers? Well, the friction of that approach versus buying a MacBook with a great UNIX family OS that matches perfectly the hardware is very different. It’s a matter of friction.
You’re acting like a browser extension, something that’s been used by damn near everyone for like 10 years now, is some crazy complex tech that people don’t understand. Everyone knows what it is lol. It’s easier to install unlock than download a new browser.
I’m using brave browser on phone (which blocks YouTube Ads) ,no point to buy YouTube premium just for avoiding Ads. My neighbor (smart engineer) blocked Ads on network level , So he’s watching Ads free YouTube on his TV.
Can you ask your neighbor how did they do it?
Did you literally just discover Adblock/uBlock like functionality? Most people here have probably have been using it for a decade.
We’re among smart people, aren’t we? Look at the reduction of friction and information availability for the mass consumer. Yes, ad blocking is not new, but if suddenly everyone is using it, then guess what happens to ad vendors. Imagine what would happen if, say, Brave or other ad-blocking browser has 95% or more of the browser market.
