Canadian looking to make the move out to Los Angeles after my partner took on a professor role @ USC. I have been attempting to break into the LA tech scene for a couple of months without any real success. I've done the "Built in LA" circuit, scoured the job boards and have been trying to network when I'm in town (or from Canada where I currently reside) but haven't quite found the right fit. My background is from management consulting, and am currently working in a VP BizOps role at a booming B2C service startup. Always being a top performer and having a "competitive" CV on paper, I've been shocked it has been this big of a struggle. Any input from the Blind community on good ways to break in? Should I simply quit my current role and try to find the right job once I land in LA? Insight on potential roles or companies would be really appreciated.
Look at: Digital LA (FB group) Silicon Beach Angel List Those have events and/or jobs boards to some capacity.
He seems to be looking for senior level roles. I don't think those sites will have too much for him. Needs to network.
Thank you. I looked but like @BizO:) mentioned they haven't been too fruitful. Most are for junior level roles in the org
Following this thread. Trying to do something related in SF. Good luck OP.
Tough call. Stick with the job you have until you find a role. As hard as it is to do remote, you will be viewed more favourably still being employed. Have you tried cold messaging on LinkedIn?
