It's a shit show here. All based on politics with no annual review. The harder you ass kissing, the better you're off for promotion. It's not about performance or number of tasks you do.
Phew! I got the interview request from CSG (XGS) group.. So I think your answer makes sense now!
Your boss is the guy who will make or break you. You have no control over it
Definitely not worth.! That too from Marvell, its downgrade. Broadcom is just brand-name they kept (and ruined) to hogwash in 2016, its actually Avago culture & DNA. Products in XGS were successful, but more than a decade old now.
There aren't company wide layoffs like in other big-tech. Broadcom closed a very-very good year.
No idea what division seew is in. But my division has had 0 layoffs. We all got very good bonuses for the year (150%) and raises plus many people got promotions. Broadcom is very Org dependent which is why there is a broad range of experiences. If you are in an underperforming org then it can be a very bad experience, which rught now is a lot of the SW orgs. My personal experience is very good. CEG is also a good org FYI.
Software org's are not doing well currently?
I think one is doing well and the other is not but honestly I am not too involved with those guys so maybe someone from that org can comment. From what I heard it is mostly due to how the leadership from the previous acquisition has handled their respective organizations. If VMware gets acquired I would think hock would keep the leadership and as long as they have solid leadership and vision then things will go very well
Currently no company level layoffs, several BUs are hiring actually. Very good compensation package but poor base salary. Increase was only 3% on average in SoCal, despite the rampant inflation. Politics do play a relevant role, former LSI people dominate the high management and get to bend the CEO's rules whenever they need to.
How’s csg (core switch group)
As far as I know they are not laying off.
If you’re in a growing/profitable business unit then you’ll be fine. If you’re in a bad business unit you’re going to deal with constant quarterly layoffs. Work is pretty chill (I am in CSG) minus a few escalations (max 1-2) where we had to work a weekend. The pay is around the same/more than FAANG.
Which Bus are the money maker in bcomm?
How about mixed signal asic bu (MSAP)doing? I recent got invited for interview. Looks like it is not core team though, just my impression. Is it worth to move forward?
I would definitely interview. I am sure it will be a pay bump
Bu is nothing but politic. A Senior manager just quit fyi

Wow.. that’s too crazy. Thanks for insights!
@jg7 Don’t spread rumors or third hand information. Let someone who is already part of Broadcom share their perspective that will help OP.
