Is vmware/ Broadcom still a good company to join. Broadcom was very generous in their offer to vmware employees for p5. Will they give the same kind of offer to new employees who join as p5. Tc: 400k #engineering #software #swe

PM is irrelevant role and will die in next 2-3 years.
I'm a P5 and leaving. This place is miserable
Care to explain?
Hock is a not tech ceo, he's a banker with a bunch of tech holdings. The new strategy going forward is to get in a Delorean and work on problems of 15 years ago all to satisfy the top 600 whales who can't move off the VMware stack. De-emphasis on public cloud and anything beyond VCF. It's not a vision; it's a roadmap for extorting our customers who cant realistically move. Essentially maintenance mode. Beyond the strategy, culture has gone to shit. Constant fear of looming RIFs. Arbitrary deadlines to meet hock's "day 2", which again, is all about "restructuring". I.e bust your ass to meet an unrealistic deadline so I can sell you off if I have to. I have teammates that have been working seven days a week for the last month and a half. Policy changes that seem to be more about forcing attrition rather than "culture". Hock literally shows you a graph with the "red line of doom" against your BU performance. I thought it was a joke before the acquisition. Nope, legit. Hock is a straight shooter, and the stock does well, but that's about it. IMO, the people that love it here tend to love the stock because they can get FAANG comp without the skillset. The other half are people complaining about DEI. Neither of those groups are the people I want to work with.
Hilarious why would anyone want to work for trashy Broadcom? I understand market is bad and folks can’t find Broadcom’s TC elsewhere, but to join this company would be a mistake. Broadcom is even worse than Amazon or Meta, avoid and find better place. Btw only way BK can keep stock moving is by buying declining or dead companies and extract revenue as much as possible and cut employees - evil crap
What’s your tc in Msft?

I hear folks are loving the RSU. Haven’t heard of any recent layoff as well.
Layoffs are happening every quarter in software division. Hardware is doing good but if you are planning to join software group, don’t do it
There have been monthly cuts since deal close.
If it weren’t for the pay and very saturated market, I would be somewhere else. I do not recommend it here, though you may have a different experience.
Did you get offer?
🏃
Been in VMware for 5+ years. It's madness out here. No one has clear vision. Only goal is to appease the CEO. Everyone is in survival mode for Rsu which makes culture extremely toxic. I am on notice period with a 5% cut on Broadcom TC. I couldn't get out fast enough. Because the longer you stay, the more you get corrupted with that mindset as well.
Where are you joining now ?
Which division vsphere tamzu?
NO.
The culture has changed since the acquisition. There is no innovation at all, we are just in maintenance mode keeping Prod up with no incidents. I am hearing from customers that they are scrambling to find alternatives as the cost has increased 3 to 5 times. They are also laying off employees just before rsu vesting.
Super shady and evil strategies. Long history of that. Just Google it. Same MO, acquire, lie, fire.
If u join VMware business on a visa, u r screwed
