In my free time I’m building an ecommerce search engine - I believe it has good business potential. Is anyone interested in turning it into a growth opportunity?
Interesting. I tried that about 18 years ago. Turns out search is hard.
Would you include all items from EBay and Amazon? Making an unified entrance for all e-commerce companies. Sounds crazy and appealing
Like a Google for products? I wonder how you keep up with the latest price. That would take a lot of crawling power or companies need to push the price to you which is partnering heavy
I'm interested in it! I am a UX designer, but I am working with an engineer on a side project that might benefit from it
Having worked on something similar, it’s extremely difficult to get the data through api or scrapers.
Sure, send me some more info.
Sounds like an interesting idea, PM me
Sorry guys, I’m in SoFLA, was stuck in a hurricane prep frenzy, will follow up with everyone
Be safe!
Been done. Not saying it can’t work. See BloomReach, Zettata, and LucidWorks to name a few. Problem is most companies can do better with an internal Solr or ES implementation because they can use internal metrics. There is a business model here because most companies can’t figure this out on their own.
