Been a top performer consistently but lately wlb has gotten worse and my family time is taking a hit. Not spending enough time with my 8yr old kid. Promoted recently and the expectations are too high. Thinking of moving out as an IC at one level down. What do you think? Focus on career or wlb and set the expectations straight with my manager which I doubt.
it’s just ebay. tell em to chill out. family comes first
Just work 9-5 and pick after that
Don't level down. Use your promo to find a better position in a different company.
Spend time with your kid. You can always work until you die but can’t get back these years with your kid.
just start slowly extending the duration required to complete projects.. but still perform adequately. They will soon start to realize and adjust their expectations accordingly.
What's your new role? Tech or management?
Never level down..expectations really depends on manager I believe, can be unreasonable for a level 23 as for a level 28..set expectations if it doesn’t work change team or company. What level are u?
Join us at Indeed. We have great WLB (including unlimited annual leave which actually works!). Am sure you will at least get a comp match.
