The end of Backdoor Roth?!
I've been leading and managing analytics teams for over 10 years but more recently i see companies asking advanced statistics in interviews. I rarely see anyone other than data scientists needing a lot of these and wonder of this is because employers just copy paste the DS job description everywhere now because its such a hot keyword. How are the roles defined between Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Scientist and Data Engineer in your company?
Statistics will differentiate a true "data scientist" versus a junior one. For example, you simply cant do Bayesian based predictive modeling without statistics and math.
It's not even well defined in big companies!
It's all similar at amazon-same job family .the data scientists who are research scientists are pure DS but the other ones are a Blend of BIE+DS+DE-advanced stats is unecessary
